Mechanisms of tissue dysfunction during aging
Dr. Regnier is a Professor and Interim Chair of Bioengineering at UW. Dr. Regnier’s research goal is to develop novel approaches to prevent or restore age-related loss of muscle function, such as protein, cell & tissue engineering and gene therapy. Research in the Regnier lab is interdisciplinary and studies are performed at multiple scales (protein, contractile filament, cell, tissue, organ levels), using a wide variety of gene & protein engineering, biochemical, biomechanical and computational modeling approaches. Many research projects are done in collaboration with other laboratories at the University of Washington and at other institutions across the US, Canada and Europe.
