Multi-Core Pilot

The University of Washington Nathan Shock Center is pleased to announce a new request
for applications for larger interdisciplinary pilot projects that work across 2 or more
resource cores. As our basic knowledge grows, new insights into the biology of aging
require increasingly complex and multidisciplinary approaches. In response, this new pilot
will provide support for up to $30,000 of core services from the following UW NSC cores:

  • Protein Phenotypes of Aging (MacCoss, Villen)
  • Metabolic Phenotypes of Aging (Raftery, Marcinek)
  • Invertebrate Models of Aging (Dunham, Mendenhall)
  • Explainable AI Analysis of Aging Phenotypes (Lee)
    Review criteria:
  1. Appropriateness of core services
  2. Integration across core services
  3. Novelty of the hypothesis and potential impact on future funding
  4. Career stage of PI, with preference given to early career investigators
We encourage interested applicants to reach out to UW NSC directors and core leaders
early to assess suitability of the potential project for this RFA. Please contact
uwhalo@uw.edu with questions about this program and to schedule meetings to discuss
    potential projects.

Applications for Year One have closed. However, a call for Year Two awards will be shared in April.
