Mechanisms of tissue dysfunction during aging.
Dr. Regnier is a Professor and Associate Chair for Research & Development in the department of Bioengineering at UW. Dr. Regnier’s research goal is to develop novel approaches to prevent or restore age- and disease-related loss of muscle function. Approaches include protein, cell & tissue engineering and gene therapy. Research in the Regnier lab is interdisciplinary and studies are performed at multiple scales (protein, contractile filament, cell, tissue, organ levels), using a wide variety of engineering, biochemical, biomechanical and computational modeling approaches. Many research projects are done in collaboration with other laboratories at the University of Washington and at other institutions across the US, Canada and Europe.
