Core personnel Daniel Raftery, PhD, David Marcinek, PhD, Ben Harrison, PhD, Shabnam Salimi, MD, MS provide comprehensive metabolite phenotyping, advanced statistical and pathway analysis of metabolomics data with interpretation, and analysis of mitochondrial Oxphos support for pilot projects. These services include:
Experimental Design and Interpretation
- Experimental design consultation prior to samples being collected
- Assistance with the preparation of abstracts and manuscripts
- Support for the preparation of grant proposals
Metabolomics Data Collection
- Users have access to metabolomics services through the Northwest Metabolomics Research Center, the largest Center in the Pacific Northwest
- Platforms include targeted aqueous metabolomics or lipidomics and untargeted metabolite profiling by LC-MS, a variety of targeted assays, NMR analysis and metabolic flux
- Acquisition of high quality targeted or global metabolomics data
- Quality control of the metabolomics data
- Advanced statistical analysis of metabolomics data, including Bayesian statistics and aging clock models
- Network models, pathway analysis and interpretation of the metabolomics data
Mitochondrial Energetics and Metabolism
- Custom-designed SUIT respiration protocols, including substrate titration, CK clamp, and site-specific oxidant production, to dissect oxidative phosphorylation changes with age.
- Characterization of small molecule effects on respiration, oxidant production and mitochondrial potential
- Respiration assays in frozen tissue samples
Core Personnel: The Core is Directed by Dave Marcinek and Dan Raftery. Yuliang Wang and Alessandro Bitto are Key Personnel in this Core.
