Neelendu Dey, MD, is an Associate Professor and physician-scientist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the University of Washington, where he holds the Kyle Thomas Spane Endowed Chair and serves as Principal Investigator of the Dey Lab. He holds joint appointments in the Translational Science and Therapeutics Division at Fred Hutch and the Division of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine at UW, and maintains an active clinical practice as a gastroenterologist, including endoscopy. His research program investigates microbiome contributions to colorectal cancer, with a focus on identifying pre-cancer microbial signatures and actionable host-microbiome relationships that can inform novel CRC prevention strategies. He serves as an Associate Editor at Gut.
Dr. Neel Dey’s research examines how the gut microbiome contributes to cellular senescence and other age-related changes in the colon that may promote colorectal cancer. His work focuses particularly on microbiome-driven effects in stromal and immune cells and how these changes create a tissue environment that supports precancerous growth.
